Genèse 16.1-26

Segond 21 Dieu entendit les cris de l'enfant. L'ange de Dieu appela Agar depuis le ciel et lui dit : « Qu'as-tu, Agar ? N’aie pas peur, car Dieu a entendu les cris de l'enfant là où il se trouve.

L'ange de Dieu : appelé l'ange de l'Eternel dans les morceaux jéhovistes. Voir l'appendice à la fin du chapitre.

Là où il est (Ismaël et non pas Dieu) : dans cette position désespérée, au milieu du désert, où il ne semblait pas que Dieu pût être présent. Elle semble penser que Dieu n'habite que dans la proximité d'Abraham, où il est adoré. Comparez 28.16.
