World English Bible It happened, as her soul was departing (for she died), that she named him Benoni, but his father named him Benjamin.

La bible annotée Commentaire de Matthew Henry

Bénoni : fils de ma douleur. Jacob change ce nom de mauvais présage en celui de Benjamin, fils de ma droite, qui est de meilleur augure, car la droite est le côté favorable. Il en fait par là le monument, non plus de la triste circonstance de la mort de Rachel, mais de ce moment où, rentrant en pleine prospérité dans le pays de Canaan, il est constitué le chef de la famille patriarcale.
