Il croisa ses mains. Le verbe employé ici (sikkel) vient probablement d'une racine arabe qui signifie tresser, d'où croiser. D'autres le font venir du verbe sacal, être sage, prudent, et de là agir à dessein. La remarque sur Manassé (fin du verset), dans l'un et l'autre cas, indique qu'il n'a pas reçu ce qui de droit semblait lui revenir.

Dans toute imposition des mains, il y a transmission ; ici, ce qui est transmis, c'est la bénédiction dont Jacob était le porteur.
