Grec : Ne soyez pas emportés de manière à passer à côté de Jésus-Christ qui, dans son immutabilité, doit devenir le rocher de vos âmes. (Ephésiens 4.14,15)

Ni les doctrines diverses (portant sur une grande variété de points) et étrangères (inspirées par un esprit opposé à celui de l'Evangile), qui provenaient de la spéculation ou de la curiosité, ni le formalisme juif, qui plaçait la piété dans l'usage de certains aliments ou la participation aux repas sacrés, (1Corinthiens 10.18) ne pouvait affermir le cœur, lui donner la certitude le courage, la paix. Il n'y a pour cela qu'un moyen : la grâce reçue par une foi vivante.

La dernière proposition est susceptible de deux constructions :

1° en suivant l'ordre des mots grecs : dans lesquels n'ont pas trouvé profit ceux qui marchent, qui cheminent dans cette vie comme des voyageurs.

2° Ceux qui marchent en eux (dans ces repas), qui s'y attachent, les pratiquent, n'y ont pas trouvé profit.
