Par la conjonction c'est pourquoi, l'auteur ne rattache pas Hébreux 9.18 à Hébreux 9.15, de sorte que les versets Hébreux 9.16 et Hébreux 9.17 ne formeraient qu'une parenthèse.

Le verset Hébreux 9.18 est plutôt une conclusion tirée de la règle générale rappelée au Hébreux 9.16 : la première Alliance, quoiqu'elle n'eût pas encore le caractère d'un don fait par testament et que par conséquent la mort ne dût pas intervenir pour son institution a cependant été inaugurée avec du sang.

Cette relation est marquée par l'expression : (grec) "pas même la première Alliance n'a été inaugurée sans sang."
