Les mains, instruments des actions, sont le symbole de toute la conduite.

Pour qu'elles soient nettoyées, il faut d'abord que le cœur, source de toute la vie, soit purifié, (Psaumes 24.4 ; 1Pierre 1.22) rendu chaste, dégagé de cet adultère spirituel (verset 4) qui résulte d'une âme partagée entre Dieu et le monde, condition de ceux qui sont doubles d'âme.

Notre auteur a déjà employé (Jacques 1.8) cette expression dans une application un peu différente.
