Quelle confiance en la puissance de Jésus exprime cette première parole de Marthe ! Ce n'est pas un reproche, pas même une plainte, mais un profond regret ; car elle est bien persuadée qu'en présence du Sauveur la mort n'aurait eu aucun empire sur son frère. (verset 15, note.) Mais elle s'élève plus haut encore.
