World English Bible They answered him, "You were altogether born in sins, and do you teach us?" They threw him out.

L'orgueil clérical, blessé par l'inexorable logique, ne connaît plus que la fureur.

Par ce mot injurieux : Tu es né tout entier dans le péché, ils font allusion à sa cécité qu'ils jugent, comme les disciples, (verset 2) être un châtiment de Dieu à cause de ses péchés.

"Et ils ne s'aperçoivent pas, comme l'observe justement M. Godet, que, par cette injure même, ils rendent hommage à la réalité du miracle qu'ils prétendent nier."

Après ces mots : ils le jetèrent dehors, il faut sous entendre : hors de la salle où ils se trouvaient.

Il ne peut être question d'une excommunication officielle, qui eût exigé une délibération régulière. Mais cette excommunication devait être la conséquence inévitable et prochaine de la scène qui venait d'avoir lieu.
