Jérémie 14.18

Si je sors aux champs, voici des gens tués par l'épée, et si j'entre dans la ville, voici des gens alanguis par la faim ; car prophète et sacrificateur s'en iront dans un pays qu'ils ne connaissent pas.

Le prophète, le sacrificateur : l'élite du peuple. Si ceux-là sont réduits à la mendicité, qu'en est-il des autres ?

Dans un pays... Double mal : ils sont forcés d'aller mendier le pain de l'étranger ; et ils ne savent pas même de quel côté se tourner pour cela.
