World English Bible For thus says Yahweh concerning the house of the king of Judah: You are Gilead to me, the head of Lebanon. Yet surely I will make you a wilderness, cities which are not inhabited.

Par une figure hardie, le prophète, après s'être adressé à ceux qui habitent la maison royale, interpelle tout à coup cette maison elle-même.

Un Galaad. Les montagnes de Galaad, surtout dans le voisinage du torrent de Jabbok, étaient et sont encore couvertes des plus belles forêts de chênes.

Le sommet du Liban. Salomon avait, bâti, dans l'enceinte de ses palais, une maison, sans doute plus merveilleuse encore que tout le reste, qui s'appelait la maison du parc du Liban, (1Rois 7.2). Le prophète fait allusion aux jardins et aux parcs magnifiques qui entouraient le palais nouvellement bâti par Jéhojakim. Ces parcs royaux, véritables forêts de cèdres, allaient être changés en désert.
