Lévitique 18.25

Le pays de Canaan lui-même est devenu impur à cause de ces fautes. J’ai dû agir contre lui, et il a craché ses habitants.
וַתִּטְמָ֣א הָאָ֔רֶץ וָאֶפְקֹ֥ד עֲוֺנָ֖הּ עָלֶ֑יהָ וַתָּקִ֥א הָאָ֖רֶץ אֶת־יֹשְׁבֶֽיהָ׃
La terre en a été souillée ; et je punirai sur elle son iniquité, et la terre vomira ses habitants.

Le pays de Canaan est présenté ici comme capable de s'indigner moralement et de vomir ses habitants corrompus à ce point. Le passé a vomi signifie, comme le montre le futur vomira, verset 28, que le décret divin est irrévocablement prononcé et peut être envisagé déjà comme réalisé. La terre est donnée aux Israélites, et par conséquent déjà ôtée à ses maîtres actuels.
