Quand il fut arrivé, il leur dit : —Priez pour ne pas céder à la tentation.
Et quand il fut arrivé dans ce lieu, il leur dit : Priez, afin que vous ne tombiez pas dans la tentation.

D'après Matthieu et Marc, Jésus adressa cette exhortation aux disciples un peu plus tard, après avoir prié lui-même, et lorsque, revenant à eux, il les trouva endormis.

Mais il est probable qu'il les exhorta plus d'une fois à la vigilance et à la prière, (verset 46) dans cette nuit terrible, où Satan allait les "cribler comme le blé." (verset 31)
