Selon les deux premiers évangélistes, ce fut la dernière parole que Jésus prononça devant le sanhédrin. Faisant suite à sa déclaration qu'il était le Fils de Dieu, elle mit le comble à l'indignation de ses juges et provoqua contre lui la sentence de mort. Luc a adopté un ordre différent, qui est moins naturel.
