L'Eternel semble éprouver une sorte de reconnaissance envers ceux qui, en face de la défection générale, se renforcent dans la fidélité à son nom, et il leur fait la plus belle promesse.

Au jour que je prépare. Le jour de l'Eternel où il manifestera sa justice.

Un trésor mis à part. Comme un homme, en face d'une catastrophe imminente, serre ses objets les plus précieux et les met à part, ainsi en agira l'Eternel envers les siens. Le mot hébreu segulla est celui qui est employé pour désigner Israël comme le peuple particulier de Dieu (Exode 19.5). Cette notion est reproduite souvent dans le Nouveau Testament, et appliquée à l'Eglise (1Pierre 2.9 ; Ephésiens 1.14). Tous les peuples seront bien un jour la propriété de Jéhova, mais Israël a une place particulière dans cette propriété générale.

Comme un homme est tendre. C'est plus qu'une affection ordinaire ; c'est la tendresse pleine de sollicitude et de ménagement que témoigne un père au fils qui se dévoue à son service.
