C'est ainsi que les Juifs désignaient la Pâque. Ce premier jour était le quatorze du mois de nisan. On préparait alors l'agneau de Pâque et les pains sans levain, et la fête commençait le même jour à six heures du soir, bien qu'elle fût fixée au lendemain quinze, de même que le sabbat des Juifs commence le vendredi à six heures du soir. L'après-midi du 14 nisan, avant le coucher du soleil, l'agneau pascal était immolé par les sacrificateurs dans les parvis du temple et c'est dans la soirée qu'on le mangeait. Grec : que nous te préparions à manger la Pâque. Jésus est considéré comme le père de famille, et les disciples, dans leur vénération, lui parlent comme si cette préparation ne concernait que lui.
Le Seigneur connaît ceux qui sont favorables à Sa cause, tout en restant humbles ; Il visitera, pour offrir Sa grâce, tous ceux qui sont disposés à Le recevoir.
Les disciples firent ce que Jésus avait ordonné. Ceux qui veulent être en présence de Christ, à la « Pâque spirituelle » que donne l'évangile, doivent obéir à ce qu'Il dit.
Il peut arriver que les serviteurs de Christ éprouvent parfois de l’inquiétude, en particulier au temps de l'épreuve. Nous ne savons pas jusqu’à quel degré nous pouvons être tentés, ni à quel point Dieu peut nous abandonner à nous-mêmes : nous devons Lui faire entière confiance.
Il est spécialement recommandé de faire un examen rigoureux de notre cœur et une prière fervente, avant de prendre le repas du Seigneur : Christ, notre « Pâque », s’est sacrifié pour nous ; observons cette célébration, en renouvelant notre repentance et notre foi en Son sang, en nous plaçant à Son service.
