La corne est le symbole de la force : Sion sera revêtue par l'Eternel de toute la force nécessaire pour détruire ses ennemis.

De fer... d'airain : c'est-à-dire de ce qu'il y a de plus dur.

Je vouerai. Le terme hébreu signifie : consacrer comme interdit. L'interdit appartenait à Jéhova. Les gains injustes des conquérants païens, fruits du pillage, ne serviront pas à enrichir Israël, mais reviendront à l'Eternel, comme à celui qui est aussi le maître des païens (le Seigneur de toute la terre).

Il est inadmissible que l'attaque des païens contre Israël, dont il est question dans ces versets, se rapporte à la même crise que les angoisses des versets 9 et 10. Il y aurait, en effet, dans ce cas, une contradiction patente et insoluble entre le verset 10 et les versets 12 et 13. Là, Michée a clairement annoncé la captivité, par conséquent la réussite de l'entreprise des païens contre Jérusalem (comparez 3.12) ; ici, il annonce non moins positivement que l'issue de l'attaque des païens contre Sion sera leur défaite totale et leur anéantissement. Quelques-uns appliquent cette prédiction à la défaite des Assyriens sous Sanchérib ; le contexte ne nous semble pas permettre de la rapporter à une époque antérieure à la captivité de Babylone qui occupe pour le prophète le tout premier plan dans la série des dispensations divines envers Israël ; il faut donc l'appliquer à un jugement plus lointain et aussi plus universel que la catastrophe de Sanchérib, qui en offre seulement un type. Il s'agit, dans tout ce passage, de la dernière lutte annoncée pour la fin des temps entre les nations et Jérusalem restaurée. Nous avons ici le parallèle des prophéties de Joël 3.9 et suivants, d'Esaïe 66.18 et suivants, d'Ezéchiel chapitre 38, de Zacharie chapitre 12, qui tous annoncent un rassemblement final des peuples contre Israël, lequel aboutira à leur jugement. Comparez en particulier, avec l'image du grain foulé sur l'aire, dans Michée, celles de la moisson et du pressoir dans Joël 3.13. Par ce jugement, Jéhova se révèlera comme le Seigneur de toute la terre.
