Le prophète, en terminant, rappelle la sentence divine dont il vient par avance de décrire l'exécution. Chacun des termes employés montre combien l'anéantissement sera complet.

Tes chars, proprement ses chars. Le prophète parle de Ninive tantôt à la deuxième tantôt à la troisième personne. Les chars de guerre sont réduits en fumée. Ceux qui dévoraient sont dévorés à leur tour ; il ne reste plus rien de Ninive.

La voix de tes envoyés. Les émissaires du roi de Ninive faisaient trembler tous les royaumes de la terre ; on n'entend plus parler d'eux, Ninive est oubliée.
