World English Bible Yahweh said to Moses, "Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him;

Prends Josué. Le passé désignait naturellement Josué. Mais Moïse n'avait pas le droit d'anticiper sur l'élection divine.

En qui est l'Esprit : Dieu dit cela comme connaisseur des cœurs. Ce terme désigne la possession de l'Esprit comme source journalière de toute la mesure de sagesse, d'énergie, de zèle nécessaires pour une telle tâche.

Tu appuieras ta main. Le sens de cet acte symbolique est expliqué par le verset 20. C'est l'emblème de la communication de la charge ainsi que de l'autorité dont Josué aura besoin pour la remplir (Lévitique 1.4, note).
