L'image est celle d'une personne qui tourne le dos à une autre pour rentrer chez elle. Cependant Dieu fait entrevoir un avenir de réconciliation, lorsqu'Israël reviendra sincèrement à lui. Les derniers mots : dans leur détresse..., sont la transition au chapitre suivant dont ils forment en quelque sorte le titre.
