Osée 8.14

For Israel has forgotten his Maker and built palaces; and Judah has multiplied fortified cities; but I will send a fire on his cities, and it will devour its fortresses."

World English Bible For Israel has forgotten his Maker and built palaces; and Judah has multiplied fortified cities; but I will send a fire on his cities, and it will devour its fortresses."

Israël, oubliant Dieu, cherche son bonheur dans les magnifiques demeures qu'il se bâtit ; Juda attend son secours, non de Dieu, mais des forteresses qu'il se construit : tout cela périra. Dans les derniers mots, Osée répète littéralement une menace de son contemporain Amos, menace qui revenait comme un refrain dans le premier discours de ce prophète (Chapitres 1 et 2). Nous avons déjà fait observer, 4.15, l'emploi semblable d'un passage d'Amos.
