Proverbes 12.20

Les personnes qui cherchent à faire du mal ont le cœur plein de méchanceté. Mais celles qui conseillent le bien sont remplies de joie.
La fraude est dans le coeur de ceux qui machinent le mal, mais il y a de la joie pour ceux qui conseillent la paix.

Chacun des membres de ce verset est clair en soi :

  1. Qui machine, littéralement : forge le mal, cache son jeu et met en œuvre la duplicité de son cœur.
  2. La joie est le salaire de ceux qui procurent la paix.

Mais quel est le rapport de ces deux maximes ? La fraude toujours punie, voilà la disposition fondamentale de ceux qui cherchent à nuire à leurs semblables ; ils en pâtiront, tandis qu'il y a joie...
