Proverbes 13.13

בָּ֣ז לְ֭דָבָר יֵחָ֣בֶל ל֑וֹ וִירֵ֥א מִ֝צְוָ֗ה ה֣וּא יְשֻׁלָּֽם׃
Celui qui méprise la parole le paiera, mais celui qui respecte le commandement en sera récompensé.
Whoever despises instruction will pay for it, but he who respects a command will be rewarded.

La bible annotée Commentaire de Matthew Henry

La parole désigne sans doute ici la parole de Dieu, ses commandements ; comparez 16.20, où le mot parole est en parallèle avec l'Eternel.

En devient le débiteur, littéralement : lui emprunte sur gages. L'homme qui a méprisé les préceptes divins en ne leur obéissant pas, a contracté vis-à-vis d'eux une dette qu'il paiera sous la forme du châtiment qui l'attend et que la parole a annoncé.
