1 à 6 Après cette délivrance extérieure et ce deuil, indice de la conversion, le pardon et la purification.

Une source ouverte. Une fois revenu à son Dieu, Israël trouve auprès de lui une rédemption toujours présente, qu'il peut s'approprier à chaque instant. Comparez Psaumes 130.7 Ce pardon toujours renouvelé est représenté sous l'image d'une source où celui qui est souillé par le péché va se plonger. Cette image est empruntée au culte lévitique. Comparez Nombres 8.7 (l'aspersion servant à la purification des Lévites) et Nombres 10.9 (l'eau mêlée aux cendres de la vache rousse, pour en asperger ceux qui se sont souillés au contact d'un mort). Seulement ici l'image d'une source fait plutôt penser à un bain complet. Comparez 1Jean 1.7 : Le sang de son fils Jésus-Christ nous purifie de tout péché.

A la maison de David et aux habitants de Jérusalem. Nous retrouvons ici cette dénomination par laquelle Zacharie désigne l'Israël qui avait jusqu'alors rejeté le Messie, avec ses chefs naturels, la maison de David. Comparez 12.7. On comprend qu'il ne soit question, comme dans le passage précédent, que de cette partie du peuple, la conversion au Messie ne pouvant concerner qu'elle seule.

Le péché : les actes de péché. La souillure : l'état de péché. Le prophète fait ressortir les deux principales causes par lesquelles le peuple avait été égaré : l'idolâtrie et le faux prophétisme. C'est sur ces deux points que portera la purification messianique.

La « Source » de la rémission des péchés, La condamnation des faux prophètes. (Zacharie 13:1-6)
La mort de Christ, et le salut du reste du peuple juif. (\\7-9\\)

Au temps mentionné à la fin du chapitre précédent, nous voyons une « Source » qui allait être mise à disposition du peuple juif et de ses dirigeants : tous pourront ainsi expier leurs péchés, par le sang de Christ et rester unis par Sa Grâce sanctificatrice.

Cette « Source » était jusqu’à présent fermée à la nation impie d'Israël ; mais l'Esprit de Dieu va humilier et attendrir le cœur de chacun, pour y pénétrer.

Cette « Source » ouverte est une image du côté percé de Christ. Nous sommes tous impurs par nature : contemplons et approchons-nous de cette « Source » disponible, afin d’y laver nos péchés ! Le sang de Christ et la Miséricorde divine représentent la « Nouvelle Alliance, » cette « Source » intarissable. Elle est disponible à tous les croyants, pour tous ceux qui ont reçu spirituellement Christ en leur cœur, qu’ils fassent partie de la « Maison de David » ou de l’église !

Christ, par le pouvoir de Sa Grâce, empêche le péché de nous dominer, même ceux à qui nous avons souvent tendance à céder. Ceux qui sont purifiés par cette « Source » spirituelle, sont également justifiés et sanctifiés. Les âmes sont ainsi arrachées au pouvoir du monde et de la chair, afin qu'elles ne restent fidèles qu’à Dieu.

Ce texte annonce également le changement profond qui aura lieu, lors de la conversion d'Israël à Christ. Les faux prophètes seront alors convaincus de leur péché et de leur folie ; ils retourneront à leur véritable vocation.

Lorsque nous sommes convaincus de nous être écartés du « chemin du devoir », nous devons témoigner de notre repentance et retourner dans le droit chemin. Il est bon de manifester notre reconnaissance envers ceux qui nous ont « repris » sévèrement, dans le but de nous faire constater nos erreurs ; « les blessures faites par un ami sont dignes de confiance, » Proverbes 27:6. Il est toujours bon de nous souvenir des blessures de notre Sauveur, de Celui qui a été meurtri par les Siens, et même trahi par Ses disciples, lorsqu’ils se sont éloignés de Sa Parole...
