Nous ne pouvons pas imaginer à quel point le temple était magnifique, avec tous les bâtiments qui l'entouraient ; il est difficile d'avoir une idée concrète sur les quantités d'or et d'argent réellement employées. Les richesses incommensurables de Christ surpassent en tous points la splendeur du temple, ce dernier étant d'ailleurs infiniment plus prestigieux que n'importe quelle demeure ici-bas. Au lieu de souligner auprès de l'Éternel, par vantardise, les dons prestigieux octroyés pour cet édifice, David, au contraire, Lui adressa des actions de grâce solennelles.

Tout ce qui fut donné pour le temple, appartenait en fait à Dieu ; si quelqu'un essayait de garder quoi que ce soit, il devait s'attendre à être puni de mort rapidement par le ciel. La meilleure utilisation possible de toutes ces richesses, était de les consacrer au service de Celui qui les avait accordées !
