1 Corinthiens 16.2

Chaque dimanche, chacun de vous doit mettre de côté chez lui ce qu’il aura économisé, selon ses possibilités, afin qu’on n’attende pas mon arrivée pour faire une collecte.

Cette mention du premier jour de la semaine, c'est-à-dire du dimanche, (Matthieu 28.1 ; Marc 16.2 ; Actes 20.7) comme d'un jour propre à s'occuper spécialement d'une bonne œuvre, prouve l'importance qu'y attachaient les chrétiens dès les temps des apôtres, si même ils ne le célébraient pas encore régulièrement comme le jour du repos, plusieurs préférant conserver le sabbat. (Comparer Actes 20.7 ; Apocalypse 1.10)

- On a trop perdu de vue l'excellent conseil que donne ici l'apôtre, de déterminer ses dons à l'avance, de les mettre à part à époque fixe, et ainsi d'amasser (Grec : "thésauriser") pour le Seigneur. C'est le moyen de donner beaucoup et de n'être pas pris au dépourvu à l'heure du besoin.
