Ce que le juste Juge mettra en lumière, c'est tout ce qui est caché encore dans les ténèbres du monde moral, et spécialement les desseins des cœurs, leurs pensées, leurs volontés, les motifs secrets des actions, sur lesquels les hommes se trompent si souvent dans leurs jugements, soit qu'il s'agisse d'eux-mêmes ou des autres.

- L'apôtre, avec une grande délicatesse, propre à faire réfléchir ses lecteurs, ne veut prévoir qu'un des résultats de ce jugement définitif, la louange, dont les Corinthiens étaient si prodigues pour certains chefs de parti : attendez que le Seigneur la donne à chacun, et que nul n'oublie le blâme possible !
