2 Pierre 3.10

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will be dissolved with fervent heat, and the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.
ἥξει δὲ ἡμέρα κυρίου ὡς κλέπτης, ἐν ᾗ οἱ οὐρανοὶ ῥοιζηδὸν παρελεύσονται, στοιχεῖα δὲ καυσούμενα λυθήσεται, καὶ γῆ καὶ τὰ ἐν αὐτῇ ἔργα εὑρεθήσεται.
Mais le jour du Seigneur viendra ; il viendra de façon aussi soudaine et inattendue qu’un voleur. En ce jour-là, les cieux exploseront avec un fracas terrifiant, les éléments embrasés se désintégreront dans une déflagration universelle et la terre périra dans cet incendie avec tout ce qu’elle renferme.

Matthieu 24.43 et suivants ; 1Thessaloniciens 5.2,3. Le texte reçu (C, majuscules) ajoute dans la nuit, qui est emprunté aux évangiles.

Ces paroles ne sont que le développement de celles du Sauveur : "Les cieux et la terre passeront." (Matthieu 24.35) Les éléments sont, d'après la théologie juive, des esprits qui émanent de Dieu et habitent la création qu'ils animent. (Spitta.)

La terre sera entièrement consumée, brûlée, est la leçon de A. On lit : disparaîtront dans C. Sin., B portent : sera trouvée ; cette leçon n'est intelligible que si l'on ajoute une négation, qui ne se trouve dans aucun document grec.
