Segond 21 Durant le règne de Pékach sur Israël, Tiglath-Piléser, le roi d'Assyrie, vint s'emparer des villes d'Ijjon, d’Abel-Beth-Maaca, de Janoach, de Kédesh, de Hatsor, de Galaad, de la Galilée et de tout le pays de Nephthali, et il exila les habitants en Assyrie.

World English Bible In the days of Pekah king of Israel came Tiglath Pileser king of Assyria, and took Ijon, and Abel Beth Maacah, and Janoah, and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali; and he carried them captive to Assyria.

Tiglath-Piléser, roi d'Assyrie, vint. Cette même guerre, décrite ici du point de vue d'Israël, le sera du point de vue de Juda, 16.9 et suivants. Les forteresses du nord tombèrent les unes après les autres devant Tiglath-Piléser, qu'Achaz de Juda, menacé par Pékach et Retsin de Damas, avait appelé à son secours.

Ijjon : voir 1Rois 15.20, note.

Abel-Beth-Maaca : voir 2Samuel 20.14.

Janoach : inconnue.

Kédès, Hatsor : voir Juges 4.2,6. Tout le territoire environnant fut conquis. Dans une inscription cunéiforme, Tiglath-Piléser se vante d'avoir pris Galaad et Abil (Abel-Beth-Maaca) sur le pays d'Omri et d'en avoir déporté en Assyrie tous les principaux habitants. C'est ici la première déportation dont il soit parlé dans l'histoire du peuple de Dieu.
