Il se leva ; d'après les Chroniques : ils s'arrêtèrent, c'est-à-dire, David, Eléazar et leurs deux compagnons ; ils restèrent seuls, défendant la position avec une telle persévérance, en particulier de la part d'Eléazar, que sa main raidie ne pouvait plus être détachée de son épée. Quand le peuple revint, il n'eut plus qu'à dépouiller les morts.
