Il faut admettre que "vocation" signifie : "le but de la vocation," la gloire céleste comme Colossiens 1.5 "l'espérance" désigne "l'objet espéré" la vie éternelle. Grec : "et qu'il accomplisse toute bienveillance de bonté, et l'œuvre de foi, avec puissance." Ce dernier mot invoque la puissance de Dieu pour accomplir ce que Paul demande. Quant à ces termes : toute bienveillance de bonté, ils peuvent indiquer la bienveillance et la bonté de Dieu, ou une vertu chrétienne dont l'apôtre souhaite que ses lecteurs soient remplis. Comment l'apôtre peut-il prier "afin que Dieu les juge dignes de la vocation," quand cette vocation est un fait accompli ? (1Thessaloniciens 5.24 ; comparez verset 10) Pour échapper à cette difficulté plusieurs ont traduit : "vous rende dignes ;" mais le verbe grec n'a jamais ce sens. Il faut admettre que "vocation" signifie : "le but de la vocation," la gloire céleste comme Colossiens 1.5 "l'espérance" désigne "l'objet espéré" la vie éternelle. Grec : "et qu'il accomplisse toute bienveillance de bonté, et l'œuvre de foi, avec puissance." Ce dernier mot invoque la puissance de Dieu pour accomplir ce que Paul demande. Quant à ces termes : toute bienveillance de bonté, ils peuvent indiquer la bienveillance et la bonté de Dieu, ou une vertu chrétienne dont l'apôtre souhaite que ses lecteurs soient remplis. Dans ce cas, il faut entendre une bienveillance, un amour pour tout ce qui est bon. Ce dernier sens paraît plus en harmonie avec le second objet de la prière de Paul : l'œuvre de la foi. (1Thessaloniciens 5.24 ; comparez verset 10) Pour échapper à cette difficulté plusieurs ont traduit : "vous rende dignes ;" mais le verbe grec n'a jamais ce sens. Il faut admettre que "vocation" signifie : "le but de la vocation," la gloire céleste comme Colossiens 1.5 "l'espérance" désigne "l'objet espéré" la vie éternelle. Grec : "et qu'il accomplisse toute bienveillance de bonté, et l'œuvre de foi, avec puissance." Ce dernier mot invoque la puissance de Dieu pour accomplir ce que Paul demande. Quant à ces termes : toute bienveillance de bonté, ils peuvent indiquer la bienveillance et la bonté de Dieu, ou une vertu chrétienne dont l'apôtre souhaite que ses lecteurs soient remplis. Dans ce cas, il faut entendre une bienveillance, un amour pour tout ce qui est bon. Ce dernier sens paraît plus en harmonie avec le second objet de la prière de Paul : l'œuvre de la foi.
