"Le modèle ou le type des saines paroles" (ou des saines doctrines, voir, sur cette expression, 1Timothée 1.10, note) signifie les principes fondamentaux de ces doctrines, les traits spécifiques qui les distinguent.

Paul invite Timothée à les retenir, non comme une lettre morte, mais dans la foi et l'amour qui est en JésusChrist, c'est-à-dire dans une communion vivante avec le Sauveur. C'est là ce qui donne la vie aux doctrines et qui les développe par l'expérience qu'on en fait.
