L'apôtre revient, en finissant, au moment où il fut arrêté dans le temple par des Juifs, qui voulaient le tuer (grec le tuer de leurs mains, Actes 5.30, note ; comparez Actes 21.30,31), ce qui fut l'origine de son emprisonnement et de tout son procès.

Aussi aime-t-il à attribuer au secours de Dieu le fait qu'il subsiste jusqu'à aujourd'hui et peut rendre témoignage à tous de la vérité divine, mais en se conformant à ce qu'ont annoncé à l'avance Moïse et les prophètes.

Tout l'Evangile n'est, en effet, que l'accomplissement de leurs prophéties, (Luc 24.27,44) et cet Evangile se résume dans ces deux faits d'une portée immense : les souffrances et la résurrection du Christ. (Luc 24.26) C'est de lui que resplendit la lumière divine sur le peuple (juif) et sur les nations. (Luc 2.32,Esaïe 42.6 ; 49.6)

Cette fin du discours est un magnifique témoignage rendu à l'Evangile, dans son harmonie profonde avec les promesses de l'Ancien Testament. (Esaïe 53)

- Il faut remarquer encore ici les pensées et les expressions mêmes familières à l'apôtre Paul : ainsi il nomme Christ (grec) le premier de la résurrection des morts. (Voir 1Corinthiens 15.20 ; Colossiens 1.18 ; et comparez Apocalypse 1.5)

Enfin, l'apôtre ne dit pas directement, comme prédiction des prophètes, que le Christ devait souffrir, que le premier il ressusciterait d'entre les morts, mais (grec) si le Christ devait souffrir, si le premier, etc.

Paul emploie à dessein cette tournure pour faire comprendre à Agrippa que c'étaient là les sujets en question entre lui et les Juifs, ses accusateurs ; car ceuxci, dans leurs vues charnelles, attendaient, non un Messie souffrant, qui doit mourir pour les péchés de l'homme et ressusciter pour sa justification et sa vie, mais un Messie glorieux et triomphateur selon le monde. (1Corinthiens 1.23)
