Cette question abrupte prouve que Paul avait présenté la résurrection du Sauveur comme réalisation de l'espérance, (verset 7) et peut-être aussi qu'il voyait des signes d'incrédulité sur la figure de quelques auditeurs.

Paul savait très bien que la résurrection des morts doit paraître incroyable à quiconque n'a pas la foi au Dieu vivant et vrai. Aussi sa question s'adresse-t-elle encore au Juif Agrippa, qu'il considérait comme croyant au moins la révélation divine, (verset 27) c'est là le sens du mot parmi vous.

Et même il pose la question de manière à venir au secours du doute. Il ne dit pas : Est-il incroyable à votre jugement que Dieu ressuscite des morts ? mais (grec) si Dieu les ressuscite. Si réellement il le fait, le nierez-vous, en jugeant que cela lui est impossibles ? Un fait n'est il pas plus fort que tous les raisonnements ?

- Au lieu de traduire ce verset comme dans notre texte, beaucoup d'exégètes et de versions le rendent ainsi : Pourquoi jugez vous incroyable ? Le sens est au fond le même. Mais notre traduction est plus conforme au grec, qui porte littéralement : "Quoi d'incroyable juge-t-on si Dieu ressuscite ?"
