Le mystère de sa volonté (c'est-à-dire le mystère voulu de lui), le salut éternel en Jésus-Christ, qui devait commencer par "le grand mystère de piété, Dieu manifesté en chair," est développé à Ephésiens 1.10.

Nous faire connaître, ce mystère ce qui suppose toujours les moyens extérieurs de la connaissance et l'illumination intérieure par le Saint-Esprit, est aussi bien un effet du bon plaisir de Dieu, que l'accomplissement même de ce salut en Jésus-Christ. (Romains 16.25, suivants ; Ephésiens 3.4 suivants ; 6.19 ; Colossiens 1.26)

Et cet acte de la bienveillance divine était, comme tout le reste, résolu auparavant en lui-même, sans aucun égard aux mérites de l'homme pécheur. (2Timothée 1.9)

Le plan de Dieu a été révélé aux croyants, pour leur montrer le mystère de Sa souveraine Volonté, ainsi que le moyen d’accéder à la Rédemption et au salut.

Ce plan nous aurait été caché pour toujours, si Dieu ne nous l'avait pas fait connaître dans Sa Parole, par l’Évangile et l'Esprit de vérité. Christ, en Sa propre Personne, a réuni Dieu le Père avec l'homme, détruisant ainsi le mal qui était à l’origine de leur séparation. Il a apporté aux croyants, par son Esprit, la foi et l’amour, par lesquels nous ne sommes désormais, « qu’un » avec Dieu.

Christ dispense toutes Ses bénédictions selon son bon plaisir. Par Son enseignement divin, selon Sa Volonté, Il conduit le racheté à connaître la grandeur de Sa Vérité, alors que les incrédules continuent à blasphémer Ses Paroles. Quelle promesse, pleine de Grace, représente le don du Saint-Esprit, à ceux qui le Lui demandent ! Le réconfort du Saint-Esprit réunit les croyants : ce sont les enfants de Dieu et les héritiers du ciel. Ils connaissent ainsi les prémices de la félicité éternelle.

C’est pour cette raison que nous avons été créés et que nous avons été rachetés ; tel est le grand dessein de Dieu, dans toute Son œuvre pour nous ; puissions-nous Lui offrir toute notre louange, à Sa Gloire !
