On demande, de ce pays, au prophète si la nuit est bientôt passée ; il répond que le matin est près de luire, mais que la nuit ne tardera pas à revenir.Sentence de Duma. Plusieurs Duma sont mentionnés, soit par les auteurs profanes, soit par la Bible (Genèse 25.14 ; Josué 15.52). Aucun ne se trouve dans le pays d'Edom. Il résulte pourtant des mots de Séir que c'est de ce pays que la question verset 11 est adressée au prophète. Duma désigne donc certainement ici Edom. L'auteur fait un jeu de mots. Duma signifie silence. Le nom d'Edom est changé en celui, peu différent, de Duma, pour désigner cette contrée comme le pays du silence ; car la nuit y règne ; un grand désastre a fait d'Edom la terre du silence. Une voix en sort pour demander si la calamité n'est pas bientôt passée. Le prophète répond que, si elle passe, ce ne sera que pour revenir. Et si l'on revient le consulter on n'en saura pas davantage. Sa réponse est une sorte d'énigme : on peut bien l'appeler l'oracle du silence. Comparez les titres symboliques de deux prophéties voisines : 5.1 ; 22.1Séir : plateau montagneux qui s'étend de l'extrémité sud de la mer Morte à la mer Rouge, occupé par les Edomites, descendants d'Esaü (Genèse 32.3).La sentinelle est le prophète lui-même. De Jérusalem, comme du haut d'une tour, il plonge ses regards dans la nuit qui couvre tous les peuples à l'entour ; c'est à lui qu'ils viennent demander si bientôt on ne verra pas poindre l'aurore.La nuit : image de l'invasion et de l'oppression assyriennes (8.20-9.1). La sentinelle répond selon la prophétie : « d'abord le matin vient », avec la lumière, la paix, et toutes les bénédictions qui en découlent ; « mais aussi la nuit », avec ses problèmes et ses calamités. S'il y a d'abord un « matin » pour la jeunesse et la santé, survient ensuite la nuit, avec la maladie et la vieillesse ; s'il y a un « matin » de prospérité dans notre famille, ou dans notre position sociale, nous devons nous attendre éventuellement à une « nuit » d'épreuves, ou de changements. Il est sage de chercher à améliorer notre « matin » actuel, pour nous préparer à passer la « nuit » qui risque de suivre.Soyons vigilants ! La bible annotée Commentaire de Matthew Henry 11 et 12 Cette courte prophétie rappelle le genre énigmatique des anciens oracles (comparez par exemple 16.4-6). Elle se rapporte à Edom. On demande, de ce pays, au prophète si la nuit est bientôt passée ; il répond que le matin est près de luire, mais que la nuit ne tardera pas à revenir.Sentence de Duma. Plusieurs Duma sont mentionnés, soit par les auteurs profanes, soit par la Bible (Genèse 25.14 ; Josué 15.52). Aucun ne se trouve dans le pays d'Edom. Il résulte pourtant des mots de Séir que c'est de ce pays que la question verset 11 est adressée au prophète. Duma désigne donc certainement ici Edom. L'auteur fait un jeu de mots. Duma signifie silence. Le nom d'Edom est changé en celui, peu différent, de Duma, pour désigner cette contrée comme le pays du silence ; car la nuit y règne ; un grand désastre a fait d'Edom la terre du silence. Une voix en sort pour demander si la calamité n'est pas bientôt passée. Le prophète répond que, si elle passe, ce ne sera que pour revenir. Et si l'on revient le consulter on n'en saura pas davantage. Sa réponse est une sorte d'énigme : on peut bien l'appeler l'oracle du silence. Comparez les titres symboliques de deux prophéties voisines : 5.1 ; 22.1Séir : plateau montagneux qui s'étend de l'extrémité sud de la mer Morte à la mer Rouge, occupé par les Edomites, descendants d'Esaü (Genèse 32.3).La sentinelle est le prophète lui-même. De Jérusalem, comme du haut d'une tour, il plonge ses regards dans la nuit qui couvre tous les peuples à l'entour ; c'est à lui qu'ils viennent demander si bientôt on ne verra pas poindre l'aurore.La nuit : image de l'invasion et de l'oppression assyriennes (8.20-9.1). Tous les petits Etats voisins de la Palestine furent, à cette époque, écrasés par les Assyriens. Seul, Juda demeurait intact. C'est donc à lui et à son Dieu que les Edomites regardent dans leur angoisse. Ils voudraient voir leurs menus problèmes personnels résolus, ou recevoir l'explication de certaines prophéties difficiles à interpréter ; en fait ils ne cherchent pas à analyser l'état de leur âme : sont-ils sauvés, sont-ils sur le chemin du devoir ? La sentinelle répond selon la prophétie : « d'abord le matin vient », avec la lumière, la paix, et toutes les bénédictions qui en découlent ; « mais aussi la nuit », avec ses problèmes et ses calamités. S'il y a d'abord un « matin » pour la jeunesse et la santé, survient ensuite la nuit, avec la maladie et la vieillesse ; s'il y a un « matin » de prospérité dans notre famille, ou dans notre position sociale, nous devons nous attendre éventuellement à une « nuit » d'épreuves, ou de changements. Il est sage de chercher à améliorer notre « matin » actuel, pour nous préparer à passer la « nuit » qui risque de suivre.Soyons vigilants ! Nous sommes invités à réagir rapidement, ne gaspillons pas notre temps pour des bagatelles ! On demande, de ce pays, au prophète si la nuit est bientôt passée ; il répond que le matin est près de luire, mais que la nuit ne tardera pas à revenir.Sentence de Duma. Plusieurs Duma sont mentionnés, soit par les auteurs profanes, soit par la Bible (Genèse 25.14 ; Josué 15.52). Aucun ne se trouve dans le pays d'Edom. Il résulte pourtant des mots de Séir que c'est de ce pays que la question verset 11 est adressée au prophète. Duma désigne donc certainement ici Edom. L'auteur fait un jeu de mots. Duma signifie silence. Le nom d'Edom est changé en celui, peu différent, de Duma, pour désigner cette contrée comme le pays du silence ; car la nuit y règne ; un grand désastre a fait d'Edom la terre du silence. Une voix en sort pour demander si la calamité n'est pas bientôt passée. Le prophète répond que, si elle passe, ce ne sera que pour revenir. Et si l'on revient le consulter on n'en saura pas davantage. Sa réponse est une sorte d'énigme : on peut bien l'appeler l'oracle du silence. Comparez les titres symboliques de deux prophéties voisines : 5.1 ; 22.1Séir : plateau montagneux qui s'étend de l'extrémité sud de la mer Morte à la mer Rouge, occupé par les Edomites, descendants d'Esaü (Genèse 32.3).La sentinelle est le prophète lui-même. De Jérusalem, comme du haut d'une tour, il plonge ses regards dans la nuit qui couvre tous les peuples à l'entour ; c'est à lui qu'ils viennent demander si bientôt on ne verra pas poindre l'aurore.La nuit : image de l'invasion et de l'oppression assyriennes (8.20-9.1). La sentinelle répond selon la prophétie : « d'abord le matin vient », avec la lumière, la paix, et toutes les bénédictions qui en découlent ; « mais aussi la nuit », avec ses problèmes et ses calamités. S'il y a d'abord un « matin » pour la jeunesse et la santé, survient ensuite la nuit, avec la maladie et la vieillesse ; s'il y a un « matin » de prospérité dans notre famille, ou dans notre position sociale, nous devons nous attendre éventuellement à une « nuit » d'épreuves, ou de changements. Il est sage de chercher à améliorer notre « matin » actuel, pour nous préparer à passer la « nuit » qui risque de suivre.Soyons vigilants ! On demande, de ce pays, au prophète si la nuit est bientôt passée ; il répond que le matin est près de luire, mais que la nuit ne tardera pas à revenir.Sentence de Duma. Plusieurs Duma sont mentionnés, soit par les auteurs profanes, soit par la Bible (Genèse 25.14 ; Josué 15.52). Aucun ne se trouve dans le pays d'Edom. Il résulte pourtant des mots de Séir que c'est de ce pays que la question verset 11 est adressée au prophète. Duma désigne donc certainement ici Edom. L'auteur fait un jeu de mots. Duma signifie silence. Le nom d'Edom est changé en celui, peu différent, de Duma, pour désigner cette contrée comme le pays du silence ; car la nuit y règne ; un grand désastre a fait d'Edom la terre du silence. Une voix en sort pour demander si la calamité n'est pas bientôt passée. Le prophète répond que, si elle passe, ce ne sera que pour revenir. Et si l'on revient le consulter on n'en saura pas davantage. Sa réponse est une sorte d'énigme : on peut bien l'appeler l'oracle du silence. Comparez les titres symboliques de deux prophéties voisines : 5.1 ; 22.1Séir : plateau montagneux qui s'étend de l'extrémité sud de la mer Morte à la mer Rouge, occupé par les Edomites, descendants d'Esaü (Genèse 32.3).La sentinelle est le prophète lui-même. De Jérusalem, comme du haut d'une tour, il plonge ses regards dans la nuit qui couvre tous les peuples à l'entour ; c'est à lui qu'ils viennent demander si bientôt on ne verra pas poindre l'aurore.La nuit : image de l'invasion et de l'oppression assyriennes (8.20-9.1). Tous les petits Etats voisins de la Palestine furent, à cette époque, écrasés par les Assyriens. Seul, Juda demeurait intact. La sentinelle répond selon la prophétie : « d'abord le matin vient », avec la lumière, la paix, et toutes les bénédictions qui en découlent ; « mais aussi la nuit », avec ses problèmes et ses calamités. S'il y a d'abord un « matin » pour la jeunesse et la santé, survient ensuite la nuit, avec la maladie et la vieillesse ; s'il y a un « matin » de prospérité dans notre famille, ou dans notre position sociale, nous devons nous attendre éventuellement à une « nuit » d'épreuves, ou de changements. Il est sage de chercher à améliorer notre « matin » actuel, pour nous préparer à passer la « nuit » qui risque de suivre.Soyons vigilants ! La bible annotée Commentaire de Matthew Henry 11 et 12 Cette courte prophétie rappelle le genre énigmatique des anciens oracles (comparez par exemple 16.4-6). Elle se rapporte à Edom. On demande, de ce pays, au prophète si la nuit est bientôt passée ; il répond que le matin est près de luire, mais que la nuit ne tardera pas à revenir.Sentence de Duma. Plusieurs Duma sont mentionnés, soit par les auteurs profanes, soit par la Bible (Genèse 25.14 ; Josué 15.52). Aucun ne se trouve dans le pays d'Edom. Il résulte pourtant des mots de Séir que c'est de ce pays que la question verset 11 est adressée au prophète. Duma désigne donc certainement ici Edom. L'auteur fait un jeu de mots. Duma signifie silence. Le nom d'Edom est changé en celui, peu différent, de Duma, pour désigner cette contrée comme le pays du silence ; car la nuit y règne ; un grand désastre a fait d'Edom la terre du silence. Une voix en sort pour demander si la calamité n'est pas bientôt passée. Le prophète répond que, si elle passe, ce ne sera que pour revenir. Et si l'on revient le consulter on n'en saura pas davantage. Sa réponse est une sorte d'énigme : on peut bien l'appeler l'oracle du silence. Comparez les titres symboliques de deux prophéties voisines : 5.1 ; 22.1Séir : plateau montagneux qui s'étend de l'extrémité sud de la mer Morte à la mer Rouge, occupé par les Edomites, descendants d'Esaü (Genèse 32.3).La sentinelle est le prophète lui-même. De Jérusalem, comme du haut d'une tour, il plonge ses regards dans la nuit qui couvre tous les peuples à l'entour ; c'est à lui qu'ils viennent demander si bientôt on ne verra pas poindre l'aurore.La nuit : image de l'invasion et de l'oppression assyriennes (8.20-9.1). Tous les petits Etats voisins de la Palestine furent, à cette époque, écrasés par les Assyriens. Seul, Juda demeurait intact. C'est donc à lui et à son Dieu que les Edomites regardent dans leur angoisse. Ils voudraient voir leurs menus problèmes personnels résolus, ou recevoir l'explication de certaines prophéties difficiles à interpréter ; en fait ils ne cherchent pas à analyser l'état de leur âme : sont-ils sauvés, sont-ils sur le chemin du devoir ? La sentinelle répond selon la prophétie : « d'abord le matin vient », avec la lumière, la paix, et toutes les bénédictions qui en découlent ; « mais aussi la nuit », avec ses problèmes et ses calamités. S'il y a d'abord un « matin » pour la jeunesse et la santé, survient ensuite la nuit, avec la maladie et la vieillesse ; s'il y a un « matin » de prospérité dans notre famille, ou dans notre position sociale, nous devons nous attendre éventuellement à une « nuit » d'épreuves, ou de changements. Il est sage de chercher à améliorer notre « matin » actuel, pour nous préparer à passer la « nuit » qui risque de suivre.Soyons vigilants ! Nous sommes invités à réagir rapidement, ne gaspillons pas notre temps pour des bagatelles ! La bible annotée Commentaire de Matthew Henry 11 et 12 Cette courte prophétie rappelle le genre énigmatique des anciens oracles (comparez par exemple 16.4-6). Elle se rapporte à Edom. On demande, de ce pays, au prophète si la nuit est bientôt passée ; il répond que le matin est près de luire, mais que la nuit ne tardera pas à revenir.Sentence de Duma. Plusieurs Duma sont mentionnés, soit par les auteurs profanes, soit par la Bible (Genèse 25.14 ; Josué 15.52). Aucun ne se trouve dans le pays d'Edom. Il résulte pourtant des mots de Séir que c'est de ce pays que la question verset 11 est adressée au prophète. Duma désigne donc certainement ici Edom. L'auteur fait un jeu de mots. Duma signifie silence. Le nom d'Edom est changé en celui, peu différent, de Duma, pour désigner cette contrée comme le pays du silence ; car la nuit y règne ; un grand désastre a fait d'Edom la terre du silence. Une voix en sort pour demander si la calamité n'est pas bientôt passée. Le prophète répond que, si elle passe, ce ne sera que pour revenir. Et si l'on revient le consulter on n'en saura pas davantage. Sa réponse est une sorte d'énigme : on peut bien l'appeler l'oracle du silence. Comparez les titres symboliques de deux prophéties voisines : 5.1 ; 22.1Séir : plateau montagneux qui s'étend de l'extrémité sud de la mer Morte à la mer Rouge, occupé par les Edomites, descendants d'Esaü (Genèse 32.3).La sentinelle est le prophète lui-même. De Jérusalem, comme du haut d'une tour, il plonge ses regards dans la nuit qui couvre tous les peuples à l'entour ; c'est à lui qu'ils viennent demander si bientôt on ne verra pas poindre l'aurore.La nuit : image de l'invasion et de l'oppression assyriennes (8.20-9.1). Tous les petits Etats voisins de la Palestine furent, à cette époque, écrasés par les Assyriens. Seul, Juda demeurait intact. C'est donc à lui et à son Dieu que les Edomites regardent dans leur angoisse. Ils voudraient voir leurs menus problèmes personnels résolus, ou recevoir l'explication de certaines prophéties difficiles à interpréter ; en fait ils ne cherchent pas à analyser l'état de leur âme : sont-ils sauvés, sont-ils sur le chemin du devoir ? La sentinelle répond selon la prophétie : « d'abord le matin vient », avec la lumière, la paix, et toutes les bénédictions qui en découlent ; « mais aussi la nuit », avec ses problèmes et ses calamités. S'il y a d'abord un « matin » pour la jeunesse et la santé, survient ensuite la nuit, avec la maladie et la vieillesse ; s'il y a un « matin » de prospérité dans notre famille, ou dans notre position sociale, nous devons nous attendre éventuellement à une « nuit » d'épreuves, ou de changements. Il est sage de chercher à améliorer notre « matin » actuel, pour nous préparer à passer la « nuit » qui risque de suivre.Soyons vigilants ! Nous sommes invités à réagir rapidement, ne gaspillons pas notre temps pour des bagatelles ! Ils voudraient voir leurs menus problèmes personnels résolus, ou recevoir l'explication de certaines prophéties difficiles à interpréter ; en fait ils ne cherchent pas à analyser l'état de leur âme : sont-ils sauvés, sont-ils sur le chemin du devoir ? La sentinelle répond selon la prophétie : « d'abord le matin vient », avec la lumière, la paix, et toutes les bénédictions qui en découlent ; « mais aussi la nuit », avec ses problèmes et ses calamités. S'il y a d'abord un « matin » pour la jeunesse et la santé, survient ensuite la nuit, avec la maladie et la vieillesse ; s'il y a un « matin » de prospérité dans notre famille, ou dans notre position sociale, nous devons nous attendre éventuellement à une « nuit » d'épreuves, ou de changements. Il est sage de chercher à améliorer notre « matin » actuel, pour nous préparer à passer la « nuit » qui risque de suivre.Soyons vigilants !
