World English Bible Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed; for Yahweh of Armies will reign on Mount Zion, and in Jerusalem; and before his elders will be glory.

Résultat du jugement : toute puissance opposée à Dieu aura disparu ; le règne de Dieu sera établi (Apocalypse 19.6).

L'Eternel trône en Sion (33.22 ; Michée 4.7), au milieu des fidèles.

Le soleil et la lune (les deux principales divinités astrales) sont rendus honteux : leur règne est fini. Comparez les passages 60.19-20 ; Apocalypse 21.23, où cependant l'idée est un peu différente ; le sens physique y domine, tandis qu'ici l'idée est surtout morale.

Ses anciens : les représentants du peuple racheté, qui entourent le trône de Dieu. La promesse d'une magistrature renouvelée est accomplie (1.26). Comparez Apocalypse 4.4.

Verront sa gloire. Aprés la conclusion de l'alliance, les soixante-dix anciens d'Israël sur le Sinaï virent la gloire de Dieu (Exode 24.9-14). Comparez Esaïe 4.5-6 ; 11. 9-10.
