Esaïe 25.6

6 à 8 Le salut préparé par l'Eternel Pour tous les peuples sur la montagne de Sion.

Après avoir donné essor aux sentiments d'adoration qui remplissent son cœur (versets 1 à 5), le prophète termine la première partie de la prophétie par la description de la félicité des élus ; ce tableau est le développement de la promesse 24.23.

Pour tous les peuples. Parmi les nombreux passages où Esaïe proclame la destination universelle du salut, comparez 2.2-4.

Cette montagne : celle de Sion (reprise de 24.23). Tous les peuples participeront au banquet, mais une gloire spéciale en rejaillira sur Israël, puisque c'est à Jérusalem qu'il aura lieu (comparez verset 8 : l'opprobre d'Israël enlevé, et 4.2,5).

Un festin. Les soixante-dix anciens sur le Sinaï virent Dieu, et ils mangèrent et burent (Exode 24.11). Les repas qu'on célébrait après les sacrifices de prospérité et lors des grandes fêtes annuelles sont les types, présents à la pensée du prophète, du grand banquet auquel toutes les nations doivent être invitées un jour et par lequel elles célèbreront la victoire du Christ sur le monde et la mort (Psaumes 22.27-30 ; comparez aussi la description des réjouissances qui solennisèrent la dédicace du temple de Salomon, 1Rois 8.63-66). Ce banquet est l'image de la joie parfaite dans la communion avec Dieu. Le même symbole se retrouve dans la sainte Cène. Le Nouveau Testament présente la félicité des élus sous l'image d'un festin de noce (Matthieu 22.1-14 ; Apocalypse 19.7-9).

      Esaïe 49

      6 yes, he says, "It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give you for a light to the nations, that you may be my salvation to the end of the earth."

      9 saying to those who are bound, 'Come out!'; to those who are in darkness, 'Show yourselves!' "They shall feed in the ways, and on all bare heights shall be their pasture.
      10 They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun strike them: for he who has mercy on them will lead them, even by springs of water he will guide them.

      Esaïe 55

      1 "Come, everyone who thirsts, to the waters! Come, he who has no money, buy, and eat! Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
      2 Why do you spend money for that which is not bread? and your labor for that which doesn't satisfy? listen diligently to me, and eat you that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

      10 Those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together as many as they found, both bad and good. The wedding was filled with guests.
