Ce n'était point assez pour les fidèles de savoir que, comme l'avait promis le morceau précédent (25.8), il viendrait un jour où la mort ne sévirait plus ici-bas ; Esaïe leur donne l'assurance que ceux-là mêmes qui sont déjà devenus la proie du sépulcre, reparaîtront pleins de vie pour participer au bonheur du temps messianique (comparez 1Thessaloniciens 4.13 et suivants). La foi d'Israël s'élève hardiment à cette pensée sublime : Le Dieu vivant étant donné, ses morts doivent revivre.Le cantique se termine ici, au moment où il atteint le faîte des voies de Dieu. Le prophète a commencé par l'expression générale d'une confiance inébranlable en la fidélité divine ; puis, se plaçant par la pensée au milieu des épreuves qui attendent encore les fidèles, il les a consolés en leur montrant toute l'histoire terrestre aboutissant à ce grand contraste : les ennemis du règne de Dieu jetés dans le schéol, et le peuple fidèle glorifié ; ses morts eux-mêmes revivant pour avoir part au triomphe. Les termes dont se sert le prophète ne permettent pas d'entendre cette résurrection dans un sens figuré. Mais, ici comme en général dans l'Ancien Testament, la résurrection des morts n'est pas donnée sous la forme d'un enseignement positif ; le prophète l'entrevoit comme une conséquence nécessaire de la fidélité de Dieu. Ce n'était point assez pour les fidèles de savoir que, comme l'avait promis le morceau précédent (25.8), il viendrait un jour où la mort ne sévirait plus ici-bas ; Esaïe leur donne l'assurance que ceux-là mêmes qui sont déjà devenus la proie du sépulcre, reparaîtront pleins de vie pour participer au bonheur du temps messianique (comparez 1Thessaloniciens 4.13 et suivants). La foi d'Israël s'élève hardiment à cette pensée sublime : Le Dieu vivant étant donné, ses morts doivent revivre.Le cantique se termine ici, au moment où il atteint le faîte des voies de Dieu. Le prophète a commencé par l'expression générale d'une confiance inébranlable en la fidélité divine ; puis, se plaçant par la pensée au milieu des épreuves qui attendent encore les fidèles, il les a consolés en leur montrant toute l'histoire terrestre aboutissant à ce grand contraste : les ennemis du règne de Dieu jetés dans le schéol, et le peuple fidèle glorifié ; ses morts eux-mêmes revivant pour avoir part au triomphe. Ce n'était point assez pour les fidèles de savoir que, comme l'avait promis le morceau précédent (25.8), il viendrait un jour où la mort ne sévirait plus ici-bas ; Esaïe leur donne l'assurance que ceux-là mêmes qui sont déjà devenus la proie du sépulcre, reparaîtront pleins de vie pour participer au bonheur du temps messianique (comparez 1Thessaloniciens 4.13 et suivants). La foi d'Israël s'élève hardiment à cette pensée sublime : Le Dieu vivant étant donné, ses morts doivent revivre.Le cantique se termine ici, au moment où il atteint le faîte des voies de Dieu. Le prophète a commencé par l'expression générale d'une confiance inébranlable en la fidélité divine ; puis, se plaçant par la pensée au milieu des épreuves qui attendent encore les fidèles, il les a consolés en leur montrant toute l'histoire terrestre aboutissant à ce grand contraste : les ennemis du règne de Dieu jetés dans le schéol, et le peuple fidèle glorifié ; ses morts eux-mêmes revivant pour avoir part au triomphe. La lumière est souvent, dans l'Ecriture, identifiée avec la vie.La rosée de l'aurore désigne donc la force vivifiante de Dieu qui renouvellera la terre et lui fera rendre vivants les morts qu'elle cachait dans son sein. Les termes dont se sert le prophète ne permettent pas d'entendre cette résurrection dans un sens figuré. Mais, ici comme en général dans l'Ancien Testament, la résurrection des morts n'est pas donnée sous la forme d'un enseignement positif ; le prophète l'entrevoit comme une conséquence nécessaire de la fidélité de Dieu. Ce n'était point assez pour les fidèles de savoir que, comme l'avait promis le morceau précédent (25.8), il viendrait un jour où la mort ne sévirait plus ici-bas ; Esaïe leur donne l'assurance que ceux-là mêmes qui sont déjà devenus la proie du sépulcre, reparaîtront pleins de vie pour participer au bonheur du temps messianique (comparez 1Thessaloniciens 4.13 et suivants). La foi d'Israël s'élève hardiment à cette pensée sublime : Le Dieu vivant étant donné, ses morts doivent revivre.Le cantique se termine ici, au moment où il atteint le faîte des voies de Dieu. Le prophète a commencé par l'expression générale d'une confiance inébranlable en la fidélité divine ; puis, se plaçant par la pensée au milieu des épreuves qui attendent encore les fidèles, il les a consolés en leur montrant toute l'histoire terrestre aboutissant à ce grand contraste : les ennemis du règne de Dieu jetés dans le schéol, et le peuple fidèle glorifié ; ses morts eux-mêmes revivant pour avoir part au triomphe. Ce n'était point assez pour les fidèles de savoir que, comme l'avait promis le morceau précédent (25.8), il viendrait un jour où la mort ne sévirait plus ici-bas ; Esaïe leur donne l'assurance que ceux-là mêmes qui sont déjà devenus la proie du sépulcre, reparaîtront pleins de vie pour participer au bonheur du temps messianique (comparez 1Thessaloniciens 4.13 et suivants). La foi d'Israël s'élève hardiment à cette pensée sublime : Le Dieu vivant étant donné, ses morts doivent revivre.Le cantique se termine ici, au moment où il atteint le faîte des voies de Dieu. Le prophète a commencé par l'expression générale d'une confiance inébranlable en la fidélité divine ; puis, se plaçant par la pensée au milieu des épreuves qui attendent encore les fidèles, il les a consolés en leur montrant toute l'histoire terrestre aboutissant à ce grand contraste : les ennemis du règne de Dieu jetés dans le schéol, et le peuple fidèle glorifié ; ses morts eux-mêmes revivant pour avoir part au triomphe. I answered, Lord Yahweh, you know. 4 Again he said to me, Prophesy over these bones, and tell them, you dry bones, hear the word of Yahweh. 5 Thus says the Lord Yahweh to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live. 6 I will lay sinews on you, and will bring up flesh on you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live; and you shall know that I am Yahweh. 7 So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold, an earthquake; and the bones came together, bone to its bone. 8 I saw, and, behold, there were sinews on them, and flesh came up, and skin covered them above; but there was no breath in them. 9 Then he said to me, Prophesy to the wind, prophesy, son of man, and tell the wind, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Come from the four winds, breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live. 10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up on their feet, an exceedingly great army. 11 Then he said to me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are clean cut off. 12 Therefore prophesy, and tell them, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, my people; and I will bring you into the land of Israel. 13 You shall know that I am Yahweh, when I have opened your graves, and caused you to come up out of your graves, my people. 14 I will put my Spirit in you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land: and you shall know that I, Yahweh, have spoken it and performed it, says Yahweh. Daniel 12 2 Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. Osée 6 2 After two days he will revive us. Apocalypse 11 8 Their dead bodies will be in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified. 9 From among the peoples, tribes, languages, and nations people will look at their dead bodies for three and a half days, and will not allow their dead bodies to be laid in a tomb. 10 Those who dwell on the earth rejoice over them, and they will be glad. They will give gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth. 11 After the three and a half days, the breath of life from God entered into them, and they stood on their feet. Great fear fell on those who saw them. Apocalypse 20 5 The rest of the dead didn't live until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over these, the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and will reign with him one thousand years. 12 I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and they opened books. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged out of the things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it. Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them. They were judged, each one according to his works.
