Ils ne se fatigueront plus en vain ; ils n'enfanteront pas des enfants pour l'épouvante ; car ils seront la race des bénis de l'Éternel, et leurs rejetons avec eux.

Segond 21 Ils ne se fatigueront pas pour rien et ils n'auront pas des enfants qui soient pour eux une source d’inquiétude. En effet, ils formeront une lignée de personnes bénies de l'Eternel et leur progéniture sera avec eux.

World English Bible They shall not labor in vain, nor bring forth for calamity; for they are the seed of the blessed of Yahweh, and their offspring with them.

Bonheur domestique non troublé. D'où les craintes, les terreurs, l'inquiétude, sinon de la malédiction de Dieu ?... Quand il cessera d'être en colère contre nous, nous serons heureux (Calvin).

Une mort... littéralement : une frayeur subite ; il s'agit de jeunes enfants frappés d'une mort soudaine (Lévitique 26.16).

Ils seront la race... Comparez 61.9.

Avec eux : leurs enfants ne seront plus séparés d'eux (voir la menace Deutéronome 28.32,41), mais bénis comme eux et avec eux (Job 21.8).
