10 à 15 Mesures pour la sanctification du peuple et l'inviolabilité de la montagne.

La révélation divine qui doit avoir lieu réclame un peuple préparé à la recevoir. Conformément à la nature de l'ancienne alliance, la préparation ordonnée est de nature extérieure ; mais chaque Israélite doit comprendre que c'est la purification du cœur par la repentance que Dieu a en vue dans cette purification extérieure.

Tous les Israélites doivent nettoyer d'eau leurs corps et leurs vêtements. Pour la purification des vêtements, comparez Lévitique 11.25-28,40, etc. Deux jours entiers furent donnés au peuple pour se préparer de la sorte.
