World English Bible I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and put my sword in his hand: but I will break the arms of Pharaoh, and he shall groan before him with the groanings of a deadly wounded man.

Comme gémit un homme blessé à mort. Les bas-reliefs antiques représentent les rois vaincus couchés à terre et attendant leur sentence de la bouche du vainqueur qui a le pied posé sur leur poitrine ; ainsi sera Hophra. Il paraît que Nébucadnetsar lui accorda la vie comme à Sédécias. Il doit avoir régné jusqu'en 564, où il périt sous les coups d'Amasis, homme de basse extraction parvenu au rang de général.
