Mésec et Tubal : peuples septentrionaux (27.13, note). Une quarantaine d'années avant le moment où écrivait Ezéchiel, des hordes innombrables de Scythes, venant du nord, avaient fait irruption en Syrie, en Babylonie, en Palestine et jusqu'en Egypte, en ravageant tout sur leur passage, mais elles s'étaient comme fondues sans presque laisser de trace de leur existence. Il est probable que c'est à cet événement que pense le prophète (Hérodote I, 106).
