Why have I seen it? they are dismayed and are turned backward; and their mighty ones are beaten down, and have fled apace, and don't look back: terror is on every side, says Yahweh.

Que vois-je ? Le prophète change subitement de ton ; la fuite d'une si belle armée le remplit d'étonnement.

Terreur de toutes parts. Locution qu'affectionne Jérémie (voir 6.25 ; 20.3,10 ; 49.29), exprimant l'idée d'un danger inévitable. Ici c'est comme un cri de guerre poussé par l'Eternel, qui cerne lui-même les Egyptiens.
