A cause du jour qui vient pour ravager tous les Philistins, [et] pour retrancher à Tyr et à Sidon quiconque restera pour les secourir ; car l'Eternel s'en va saccager les Philistins, qui sont les restes de l'Ile de Caphtor.

Leurs derniers alliés, c'est-à-dire les Philistins. Tyr et Sidon furent seules à soutenir la guerre que leur fit Nébucadnetsar après la prise de Jérusalem.

Les restes de l'île de Caphtor. Les Philistins, venus de Caphtor ou de Crète (Amos 9.7), s'étaient établis dans le pays de Canaan en dépossédant les Avviens. Deutéronome 2.23.
