L'offrande consistait non en froment, mais en pain, ce qui était naturel puisque la moisson était à sa fin. C'étaient des pains levés, car ils représentaient la nourriture habituelle du peuple.

Des lieux où vous habiterez. Ces mots ne peuvent pas signifier que les deux pains devaient être offerts par chaque famille israélite. Qu'auraient fait les sacrificateurs d'une telle quantité de pain ? Il en est de ces pains comme de la gerbe, qui était une offrande nationale et par conséquent unique. Seulement ils devaient être donnés, non par le sacrificateur, mais par la communauté israélite elle-même, et pris de pains fabriqués à la maison, comme ceux que mangeaient les simples particuliers.
