Luc 18.31

Jésus prend les douze apôtres avec lui et il leur dit : « Écoutez ! Nous montons à Jérusalem, et tout ce que les prophètes ont écrit au sujet du Fils de l’homme, cela va arriver.
L'Esprit, par les prophètes de l'Ancien Testament, témoignait des futures souffrances de Christ, et de la gloire qui devait suivre, 1Pierre 1:11.

Les préjugés des disciples étaient si établis, qu'ils ne comprenaient pas littéralement ces paroles de Jésus : ils étaient tellement orientés sur les prophéties qui mentionnent la Gloire de Christ, qu'ils ne discernaient même pas celles qui parlent de Ses souffrances.

Beaucoup de personnes sont dans l’erreur : elles lisent leur Bible « partiellement », et ne retiennent que ce qui est plaisant. Nous devons, avec un certain recul, apprendre les leçons de la souffrance, de la crucifixion, et de la résurrection de Christ, si nous sommes de véritables disciples, devant être enseignés par ces événements ; dans la même optique, rejetons notre égocentrisme, notre attrait pour le monde, qui ne peuvent que mettre un voile sur notre compréhension des Écritures...

World English Bible He took the twelve aside, and said to them, "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all the things that are written through the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be completed.

C'est la troisième fois que Jésus prédit à ses disciples ce qui va lui arriver. (Luc 9.22,44,45)

Les mots : Voici, nous montons à Jérusalem indiquent que le Sauveur et ses disciples, qu'il avait pris à part pour leur faire cette douloureuse confidence, s'acheminaient alors définitivement vers la ville sainte. Ils en étaient même déjà assez rapprochés. (verset 35)

La fin du verset est susceptible de deux constructions : "les choses écrites pour le fils de l'homme seront accomplies" ou "les choses écrites seront accomplies pour le fils de l'homme."
