Cette expression de Marc : après que le sabbat fut passé, nous reporte au samedi soir, après le coucher du soleil, à l'heure où finissait le sabbat et où la vie active reprenait. (Marc 1.32)

C'est alors aussi que les femmes nommées ici (comparez Marc 15.47 et Matthieu 28.1, seconde note), achetèrent des aromates pour embaumer (ou, plus exactement, oindre) le corps du Seigneur.

Luc (Luc 23.56) indique d'une manière plus vague le moment où elles firent cet achat : mais il faut être bien avide de contradictions pour en trouver une sur ce sujet entre les deux évangélistes.

Les femmes annoncèrent la résurrection de Christ. (Marc 16:1-8). Christ apparaît à Marie de Magdala et aux disciples. (Marc 16:9-13). Le message du Seigneur aux Apôtres. (Marc 16:14-18). L’ascension de Christ vers le ciel. (Marc 16:19-20).

Nicodème avait déjà apporté une grande quantité d'aromates pour embaumer le corps de Jésus, mais ces femmes, bien intentionnées, pensèrent que ce n'était pas suffisant.

Le respect que les autres manifestent envers Christ ne devrait pas nous empêcher de témoigner le nôtre. Ceux qui sont animés d’un saint zèle pour rechercher Christ avec assiduité, trouveront que les difficultés éventuelles auront tendance à s’amenuiser rapidement.

Lorsque nous subissons des épreuves et que nous souffrons pour l'amour de Christ, nous serons alors « agréés » favorablement par ce Dernier, même si nos efforts ne sont pas couronnés de succès.

L'apparition de l'ange, qui aurait dû, à juste titre, rassurer ces deux femmes, les effraya en réalité : bien souvent, ce qui devrait nous réconforter, nous terrorise, à cause de notre faiblesse spirituelle. Christ a été crucifié, mais Il fut glorifié. L’ange dit à ces femmes : « Il est ressuscité, Il n'est pas ici » ; cela signifiait : Jésus n'est pas mort, mais Il est de nouveau Vivant ! Plus tard vous Le verrez, mais ici vous ne pourrez voir que le lieu où Il gisait.

Le même genre de réconfort sera ensuite donné, au moment opportun, à ceux qui se lamenteront sur le Seigneur Jésus. Dans cette annonce de l’ange, Pierre est spécifiquement mentionné : ce sera pour lui un encouragement spirituel, car il souffrait encore d’avoir renié son Maître...

L’apparition spirituelle du Seigneur ne peut être que bienvenue pour un véritable pécheur, ce dernier sera d’ailleurs toujours bien reçu devant Lui !

Ces deux femmes s’enfuirent en toute hâte du sépulcre, pour rejoindre les disciples. Bien souvent, des craintes nous empêchent d’accomplir notre service pour le Seigneur et pour les âmes, ce que nous serions capables de faire, si notre foi, avec la joie qu'elle procure, était conséquente...
