Exode 20.12,21.17. Tous les devoirs des enfants envers leurs parents sont compris dans la première de ces paroles, la seconde, qui exprime toute la rigueur de la loi contre le crime ici prévu, est citée d'après les Septante ; littéralement : finira par la mort.

L'hébreu dit : mourra de mort, c'est-à-dire mourra certainement.
