De se purifier. Au premier moment et provisoirement Néhémie avait fait faire la police par ses gens. Mais il fallait régulariser les choses, et, comme les Lévites avaient eux-mêmes, paraît-il, enfreint la loi du sabbat en se procurant ce jour-là ce qu'il leur fallait pour les offices du culte, ils durent commencer par se purifier.

Epargne-moi..., miséricorde. Point de justice propre.
