Israël n'a pas de devins ; mais il a à chaque moment les messagers de Dieu, les prophètes, qui lui expliquent l'œuvre de Jéhova. Comparez Deutéronome 18.11-18 ; Amos 3.7.

On a expliqué aussi dans un sens tout différent : Comme il n'y a point de magie qui puisse exercer sa puissance à l'égard de (contre) Jacob, le temps vient où l'on dira : Voyez quelles grandes choses Dieu a faites pour lui ! Dans le sens rendu par notre traduction, la relation logique entre les deux parties du verset paraît plus claire.

Il sera dit : par l'Eternel au prophète, et par le prophète au peuple.

En son temps : à chaque fois selon le besoin du moment. Cette parole convient bien dans la bouche de celui qui, devin lui-même, sent, toute la différence qu'il y a entre son métier et le vrai prophétisme accordé par Dieu à Israël.
